AC Milan are plotting a move to sign Jack Grealish from Manchester City this summer, as per a new report.
Grealish is likely to leave City at the end of his fourth season at the Etihad Stadium, having played just 605 minutes in the Premier League this season.
The 29-year-old has two years remaining on his current deal and Manchester City’s incoming sporting director Hugo Viana has a decision to make on Grealish as the season comes to a close.
Pep Guardiola has been patient and understanding amidst Grealish’s struggles on and off the pitch in the last two seasons, with the £100 million signing from 2021 yet to kick on from the height he reached in City’s historic, treble-winning season two years ago.
After being in and out of Guardiola’s starting XI last season, Grealish hasn’t climbed the pecking order this season owing to the emergence of Savinho and form shown by the likes of Jeremy Doku and January signing Omar Marmoush.
However, it can be said that in a season that has seen City struggle for attacking inspiration and Erling Haaland shoulder most of the goalscoring burden, Grealish has missed a crucial opportunity to win back Guardiola’s trust.
Guardiola has maintained that Grealish has performed well in training despite having warmed the bench when he has been available of late, though the winger’s struggles with injury have further derailed his chances of consistent minutes.
According to Italian outlet TVPlay, whose information has been relayed by Sport Witness, Grealish has attracted interest from AC Milan ahead of the summer transfer window and the Italian club believe City could demand €40 million for the England international.
AC Milan are believed to be favouring a loan swoop for Grealish, who is understood to be considering a move away from the Etihad Stadium for regular minutes to boost his chances of representing England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Grealish was recently excluded from Thomas Tuchel’s first squad as England manager, with Tuchel revealing details of a conversation with the 29-year-old forward and his inconsistency at Manchester City being a key reason for his absence.
