Leeds United moved back to the top of the Championship with a 2-0 win on Wednesday night

Daniel Farke has lashed out at the officials following Leeds United’s 2-0 victory over Millwall.

An early own-goal and a late strike from Ao Tanka sealed a huge three points for the Whites in their quest for automatic promotion.

However, Joel Piroe also had a goal ruled out for offside in the first half that didn’t appear to have any actual infringements upon replay.

The linesman recently ruled out another goal incorrectly against Leeds in their 2-0 victory over Coventry City in February.

Daniel Farke criticises officiating

Farke has revealed that the club received an apology following the mistake against Coventry, a game in which they earned a valuable three points away to the Sky Blues.

He has criticised the linesman for twice getting an offside call wrong against Leeds, claiming that even in a victory it still irks him.

"I could be relaxed today because it didn't influence the result but it annoys me," said Farke, via the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"It's not acceptable what's happened against us.

“We get a call after the Coventry game, you should have had a penalty and a goal that should normally be allowed, Willy is three yards onside.

“Apology for that.

“One game later, the same assistant gives the same offside.

“This annoys me a lot.

“Back-to-back games and the same assistant gives an offside situation.

“Today to be fair to him it was tight and more difficult to see."

Leeds United league position

Leeds moved two points clear of second-place Sheffield United with their victory over Millwall on Wednesday night.

The Whites dropped to second in the table on Tuesday after the Blades’ draw with Bristol City.

But Farke’s side have taken full advantage and have re-established their lead, with Burnley four points behind in third.

Next up for Leeds is a trip to face QPR on 15 March in a 12.30pm kick-off.

Intensity of promotion battle showing for Daniel Farke

The intensity of the promotion battle has been ratcheted up in recent weeks, with all of the three main protagonists all in strong form.

This means any dropped points could be huge, as Leeds saw when they earned just one from six in their two games prior to the win over Millwall.

That has swung back around in the club’s favour this midweek, with Farke’s team being the only of the top four to earn a victory, giving them a bit of breathing room again.

But even with that slight advantage and three points to his name, the German has taken aim at the officials, perhaps showing the pressure he’s under to get Leeds back to the Premier League.
