Arsenal and many other clubs’ fans often sing about their team being the best the world has ever seen. This statement is factually incorrect 99.99% of the time for all of those clubs.

Yet thanks to FIFA doing what fans all over the world have been asking for years, they have created the FIFA Women’s Club World Cup to take place in 2028.

They have also created a yearly competition that is very similar to the old men’s Intercontinental Cup. It is called the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup and it is the purest form of club world cup, a battle between the six confederation champions.

As Arsenal are the UEFA Women’s Champions League winner for 2024/25, they have qualified to play a fifth competition in the 2025/26 season: the 2026 FIFA Women’s Champions Cup.

The dates are as follows: 28 January 2026 to 1 February 2026. This would be likely to impact one WSL game only. Of course, that will also depend on the tournament location as jet lag would likely hit the players.

As there are six confederations and therefore six teams involved, FIFA has decided to have two rounds before the tournament semi-finals. The Asia and Oceania Champions will play each other in Round 1 with the winner taking on the African champion in Round 2.

The semi-finals will see UEFA, CONCACAF and CONMEBOL enter the tournament. The UEFA Women Champions League winner will take on the Round 2 winner, while the Copa Libertadores Feminina winners will take on the Concacaf Women Champions Cup winners.
