Frida Leonhardsen Maanum has signed a new contract with Arsenal, committing her future to the club she joined in 2021 and where she has become one of the key figures in the team’s recent resurgence under Renee Slegers.
The 25-year-old Norway international has been one of the standout performers of the 2024–25 season, scoring 13 goals and providing five assists in 40 appearances across all competitions.
“I love playing for this club, everything about it – the supporters, the community, playing at Emirates Stadium,” said Maanum. “Seeing how the club has developed over the last few years only makes me more excited to continue my journey here.
“We’ve had such special moments this season and getting to share those with our supporters has been amazing, I’m looking forward to continuing celebrating with them and giving everything for this team.”
Since arriving from Linköping FC in Sweden, Maanum has made 150 appearances and scored 40 goals, winning two League Cup titles in the 2022–23 and 2023–24 seasons. Her performances earned her multiple Player of the Month nominations in the WSL, as well as the league’s Goal of the Month award for her strike against Brighton & Hove Albion in November.

There have been setbacks, too. In March 2024, Maanum collapsed during the League Cup final, prompting real concern from teammates, staff and supporters. She was later found to have no obvious cardiac issue, fitted with a monitoring device, and cleared to return to training. Since then, she has returned to top form.
At international level, she continues to be a mainstay for Norway, having already earned 89 caps and scored 21 goals. She has played at two World Cups and the 2022 European Championship, and is expected to be central to Norway’s plans moving forward.
Director of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley said: “Frida joined us at a young age and has shown great growth and development across her four years with the club. She’s taken the opportunities offered to her here and we’re proud to see her delivering strong performances consistently. Together with our supporters, we’re looking forward to seeing her continued development here at Arsenal.”
Head Coach Renée Slegers added: “I’m delighted that Frida has signed a new contract here with us. She’s such an important player in the group and has made a big contribution to what we’ve achieved as a group during my time as head coach. I know Frida has the ambition and drive to continue striving for improvement as we continue to aim to compete for the highest honours together.”
