Leandro Trossard appears set to remain at Arsenal next season, with the Belgian international offering his strongest indication yet that he sees his future in north London.

Despite reports of external interest and ongoing discussions over an improved contract, Trossard made clear he is already focused on what lies ahead with Mikel Arteta’s side.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s final fixture of the season at Southampton, Trossard said: “I think you can speak as much as you want about this campaign, but it’s over now.

“So, from next season we start fresh and for everyone it’s a new opportunity. It’s the same for us, and hopefully with everything we’ve had to go through this season, injury-wise and a couple of other things, we can start in a good manner next season.

“We want to win everything, whatever is possible.”

It is the clearest public statement yet that Trossard expects to be part of the squad for the 2025/26 season.

That view is backed by sources close to negotiations. Talks over an improved financial package have been ongoing since January, and while Arsenal are not looking to extend the length of his contract, which runs until 2027, there is broad agreement that his current terms no longer reflect his importance to the squad.

Andrea Berta, now overseeing this sort of stuff at the club, is said to be leading the negotiations, which are in an advanced stage. According to multiple sources, Trossard has told the club he wants to stay, and all sides are confident a deal will be concluded soon.

Trossard, 30, has featured in every Premier League match this season and has made more appearances in all competitions than any other Arsenal player, with 55 games played. David Raya has 54.

With 19 combined goals and assists, he trails only Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka, and remains ahead of Gabriel Martinelli, who has played slightly more minutes.

“I don’t want to talk about luck, but in one way you need things to go your way as well in certain games,” Trossard added.

“Sometimes you need to force your luck by just keep pushing and pushing and that’s what we are trying to do. Every year we’re closer and closer, and that’s what we need to do next year.

“We need to keep pushing and push each other towards that, that’s the only way you can go for silverware. But let’s finish the season strongly first, then we can have a good feeling going into the off-season.”

Arsenal, who have secured Champions League qualification, are certain to finish second in the Premier League for the third year in succession, barring a catastrophe of epic proportions that sees City overturn three points and and eight goal-difference gap on the final day.

Trossard, a January 2023 signing from Brighton, has been linked with interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia and across Europe, but the player’s latest comments and ongoing contract talks strongly suggest he intends to continue his progress under Arteta.

For a player who has quietly become one of the team’s most consistent performers, the signs are clear. Trossard is not planning to go anywhere.
