Aston Villa turn attentions to 2nd La Liga defender after failure in Badé pursuit | OneFootball

Premier League outfit Aston Villa have shifted focus towards another La Liga star, amid their ongoing search for reinforcements at the back.

That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Juan Foyth as the player in question.

Unai Emery’s Villa, of course, have taken their place front and centre in the media chatter in Spain throughout the January transfer window to date.

This comes after the Claret and Blue set their sights firmly on the signature of Sevilla star Loïc Badé.

Negotiations, in turn, were kicked into gear between the parties, albeit with Sevilla’s demands having ultimately proven too steep for a deal to be struck.

Those behind the scenes at Villa Park. however, remain keen to bring in a new stopper from La Liga before the month is out.

As per a report from Fabrizio Romano:

‘Aston Villa are in talks to sign a new defender and Juan Foyth is one of the main targets, after Badé deal off. Initial proposal already sent to Villarreal as Unai Emery knows the player well, as Javi Matagil reports.’
