It has been four days since the January transfer window started, but FC Barcelona have still not been able to solve the problem of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor’s registration with La Liga.

After missing the 31st December deadline, the Catalans had decided to set 3rd January as their own deadline to get the duo registered with La Liga. However, these two players have still not been registered, even though the Blaugranes have achieved their long-desired objective of returning to the 1:1 status.

As a result, the future of these two players remains highly uncertain at Barcelona, especially that of Dani Olmo, as the midfielder has an option in his contract to become a free agent if the Catalan club is unable to get him registered.

Although the €60m-rated Spaniard is committed to the Blaugranes and is not thinking about leaving, a previous report still estimated the costs of a scenario in which he would decide to become a free agent.

In that report, it was assumed that Barcelona would have to pay his full wages for the entire period of his contract even if he decided to become a free agent.

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, this is not the case and Olmo will not receive the rest of his salary till 2030 if he decides to terminate his contract with Barcelona.

On the other hand, the Blaugranes will still have to pay the full €48 million fixed to RB Leipzig for his transfer, and this could have a negative impact on their accounts as Olmo’s amortization cost will have to be spread in this single financial year of 2024-25.

As things stand, currently there is only a personal contract between Olmo and Barcelona, as his federation contract is already past its validity date of 31st December 2024.

Hopefully, the Blaugranes will be able to find a solution to this problem and get him registered back as soon as possible to allow Hansi Flick to continue counting on Olmo for the second half of the season.
