La Liga president and vice-president of the RFEF Javier Tebas has expressed sharp criticism towards the Higher Sports Council (CSD) following a recent decision that allowed Barcelona to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.

The Government’s precautionary measure, which facilitated this registration, has sparked strong reactions from Tebas, who took to social media to share his perspective.

Tebas is not happy with the decision

In a detailed message posted on his ‘X’ account, Tebas labelled the situation a “tragicomedy,” suggesting that this could be the beginning of a series of updates on the matter.

He raised concerns about several aspects of the decision, starting with what he described as the “unusual speed” of the process.

According to Tebas, the swift decision did not allow LaLiga or the RFEF to present their arguments. He also criticised the measure for allegedly disregarding earlier rulings by both the CSD and judicial authorities.

Additionally, he pointed out that the Monitoring Committee’s authority had been overlooked, indicating what he believes to be a lack of understanding about the management of prior approvals and provisional licences.

Tebas questioned whether any coordination exists between the institutions involved in such decisions.

“This decision demonstrates a profound lack of knowledge about how prior visas and quasi-definitive licenses are managed,” he wrote.

Tebas further highlighted that the ruling did not reference the specific RFEF regulations that initially prevented the issuance of licences to these players.

He suggested this omission might have been deliberate, as the core issue, in his view, was regulatory compliance rather than financial oversight.

“There is no mention at any time of the articles of the RFEF regulations that prevented the granting of licenses to players, which is the key to the issue and not economic control. An intentional forgetfulness?”

The LaLiga president also accused the CSD of contradicting “what is stated in the reasons of the Sports Law, where the economic control of LaLiga is praised.

“This control, admired worldwide, has been key to saving numerous historic clubs from ruin and achieving an integral competition on and off the field.

“However, the CSD doubts it, again showing a lack of knowledge of the effects of its decisions (which is not the first time),” he wrote.
