Bundesliga meetings between Bayern and Union Berlin have never seen any winner other than the Bavarians. FCB may not have won all 10 league encounters with the capital club, but they have also never lost. Bayern’s record of seven wins and three draws against the side from Köpenick is therefore a special one. The only other team the Reds have faced that many times in the Bundesliga without tasting defeat is Darmstadt.
To date there are a total of 13 teams to have tried and so far failed to beat Bayern in Germany’s top flight. You can see in the images below which clubs belong to that special list of names.
Which teams have Bayern never lost against in the Bundesliga? Find out the answer in our photo gallery…
As well as three hard-fought 1-1 draws, Bayern have also had some clear-cut wins over Union, like the 5-1 victory in Berlin in the most recent encounter in April. The same also goes for some of the encounters with Darmstadt, the other team FCB are still unbeaten against in 10 meetings. Perhaps the most memorable of those was at the Allianz Arena a year ago when the Bavarians incredibly scored all eight goals in their 8-0 win in the second half.
Should Vincent Kompany’s team secure a positive result in their 11th fixture against Union, it will therefore be a new ongoing best for the club and the Bundesliga. However, it wouldn’t be the first time Bayern had made it through so many games against an opponent before tasting defeat. It took Wolfsburg 13 attempts to get the better of FCB in the Bundesliga until a 3-2 win in September 2003. And Bayern actually remained unbeaten in their first 17 top-flight encounters with Hoffenheim before the Sinsheim club registered a 1-0 win at home in April 2017 to finally get on the board in that fixture.
Either way, such records will be of little consideration to the team once they walk out at the Allianz Arena on Saturday. All that matters to them is the three points.
