Best combined 11 team from Manchester United and Newcastle United – Apologies, I made one error | OneFootball

Ahead of Sunday’s match at St James’ Park, I had a look at both the Manchester United and Newcastle United teams.

The starting elevens from the last round of matches.

I put together an article on what I considered the best combined eleven for the Manchester United and Newcastle United teams.

I restricted myself to the 22 players who had started in the last respective Premier League matches for the two clubs.

Manchester United drawing 0-0 at Old Trafford against Manchester City on Sunday.

Then Newcastle United winning 3-0 away at Leicester City on Monday.

These were the respective starting elevens.

Newcastle United team that started against Leicester:

Pope, Trippier, Schar, Burn, Livramento, Joelinton, Tonali, Bruno, Barnes, Isak, Murphy

Manchester United team that started against Manchester City:

Onana, Mazraoui, Maguire, Yoro, Dalot, Casemiro, Ugarte, Dorgu, Fernandes, Hojlund, Garnacho

I had the article published on The Mag on Thursday (10 April) and this was my best combined eleven from the Manchester United and Newcastle United teams:

Pope, Trippier, Schar, Burn, Livramento, Joelinton, Tonali, Bruno, Fernandes, Isak, Murphy

I must apologise, I made one massive error when picking that best combined eleven above.

In that article before Sunday’s game I wrote:

‘So through gritted teeth (and trying my best not to vomit!), I accepted that based on form and ability, Bruno Fernandes had to be in the eleven, from the 22 options above. Although Harvey Barnes has done well in this recent run of four wins, in the absence of Anthony Gordon. However, I simply don’t think a single other Manchester United player would get in this combined eleven.’

Anyway, here is my corrected best combined Manchester United and Newcastle United team, from those 22 players I chose from last week…
