Brentford boss is a candidate to replace Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has said moving to a bigger club “would not make my life better” but admits a new job could be a “challenge I need” amid links to Manchester United.

Frank was a candidate to replace Erik ten Hag in the summer and continues to be linked with a move to Old Trafford.

“But things can happen. You can want new inspiration. If I ever got the offer from a bigger club and I decided to go there, it would probably not make my life better.

“I think we all know that. But hey, that’s maybe a challenge that, you know, you need to try.”

Ten Hag is under pressure at United after they have managed only three wins in their opening eight Premier League matches.

Frank, the Premier League’s second longest-serving manager, has done a brilliant job in six years at Brentford and says he still feels he has unfinished business at the club.

“I've been so happy here. There's still things we can achieve,” he said.

Frank says Brentford’s success is down to the culture at the club.

“I think data is good, but I think our really secret sauce - our ingredients in the secret sauce - is the is the culture and the togetherness,” he said.

“I think that's where we stand out in many ways. It's more clear strategy, clear alignment from top to bottom. Good people working hard, same direction every single day. And then the people up top do something very, very, very rare football - they take good, sensible, calm decisions!”
