Carl Rushworth looks set to stay at the MKM Stadium for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign.
Brighton and Hove Albion are set to opt against recalling Carl Rushworth from his loan spell at Hull City.
This is according to an update from Pete O'Rourke, who took to X to reveal that time is running out for the Seagulls if they want to recall him, with a deadline in place to make this decision.
The Tigers will be keen to have the strongest squad possible in their quest to avoid the drop - and they have already made some moves to strengthen.
Matt Crooks was Hull's first arrival of the summer, and loanee Joe Gelhardt followed him through the door not long after, with the forward joining on loan from Leeds United.
Nordin Amrabat was the Tigers' third addition - and Lincoln Henrique and Kyle Joseph are both believed to be closing in on moves to the MKM Stadium.
Some exits may be required to ensure the Championship club doesn't have to leave lots of first-teamers out of their registered squad for the second half of the season.
But they look set to keep hold of one player they could have easily lost during the January window.
Rushworth hasn't been able to make much of an impact in East Yorkshire because of an ankle injury, but he was finally able to make his debut for the club against Doncaster Rovers in the FA Cup earlier this month.
And he also started ahead of Ivor Pandur against Millwall last weekend, which may indicate that he could be one of the first names on the teamsheet from now until the end of the season.
With Pandur a decent first-team option, there's a chance he may not start every week, but Brighton are likely to let him stay at the club for the remainder of the campaign.
This is according to O'Rourke, who believes the Seagulls' deadline to recall the player ends at some point this week.
Rushworth may not win regular starts at the Amex Stadium during the second half of this season.
With this in mind, the Seagulls should let Rushworth compete for a starting spot at the MKM Stadium for the rest of 2024/25.
The fact Pandur is a decent keeper should push Rushworth to improve his performance levels, with that competition likely to benefit both shot-stoppers.
That competition is exactly what Ruben Selles needs in his side's quest to stay out of the drop zone and climb up the table.
With this in mind, Rushworth staying at Hull will probably benefit all parties.
