Cercle Brugge have announced that they have parted ways with head coach Ferdinand Feldhofer. The Austrian replaced the popular Miron Muslic in December and despite a brief upturn in form was unable to steer the side clear of the bottom four. As a result, the side have sacked the head coach after just 17 games. They are set to announce a new man prior to the start of the relegation play-offs.
Of the 13 Pro League matches managed by Feldhofer, the side won three, drew seven and lost three. If they had just turned one of those draws into a win, they would have survived. However, these came against sides in and around them like Westerlo and Sint Truiden. It is clear that the club hierarchy did not have full confidence in the Austrian head coach to ensure the side remain in the Pro League next season. They just have to come top of the play-off mini group against the likes of Sint Truiden, Kortrijk and Beerschot. However, Cercle have only beaten one of those sides (Beerschot) this season.
