Chelsea are ready to renew their interest in Victor Osimhen this summer with the forward’s €75m (£61.9m) release clause deemed ‘value for money’.

Osimhen will be available for transfer in the summer when his loan spell at Galatasaray comes to an end. The Nigeria international failed to secure a permanent transfer away from Napoli last summer. Following the close of the window for Europe’s top leagues, he joined the Turkish champions on a season-long arrangement.

Galatasaray are desperate to keep Osimhen, who has scored 20 goals in 27 appearances across all competitions. However, there is an acknowledgement that the Turkish team can not compete with the finances of Europe’s top five leagues.

Transfer journalist Rudy Galetti is reporting that Chelsea are set to make a new approach. The West Londoners held talks with Osimhen last summer but were unable to reach an agreement late in the window. Chelsea are determined to bring in another centre-forward as the club look to ease the burden on Nicolas Jackson.

Osimhen’s £61.9m release clause is viewed as good value, for a player who has scored 96 goals in 160 appearances for Galatasaray and Napoli over the last four-and-a-half seasons. However, Chelsea face strong competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.

PSG are continuing to monitor centre-forwards, having allowed Randal Kolo Muani to leave on loan in January. The French champions agreed a €70m deal to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli in January and are keen to reunite the pair in Paris.

Juventus are also keen on Osimhen, who was the leading scorer in Serie A as Napoli won the title in 2022/23. Doubts remain over the future of Dusan Vlahovic, who will enter the final 12 months of his contract at Juventus in the summer.

Manchester United have also been tentatively linked with Osimhen, though there is uncertainty over the funds that will be available for Ruben Amorim to spend in the summer.
