It’s the 25th day in May – time to check out how our number 25 is getting on this month.
Moises Caicedo is 25 and he’s had a great month – in fact, he’s had a great season. The highlight of his last few weeks must surely have been winning the club’s player of the season award.

It was well deserved – other Blues have had good patches, but Caicedo is the only player who has been exceptionally good all season. We dread to think where we would have been without him this season.
Poor management of the squad left us really vulnerable in midfield, with injury to Romeo Lavia putting a huge amount of strain on Caicedo in the middle. But the Ecuador star maintained some really impressive consistency throughout, never suffering from the huge physical burden of playing every week in such a demanding position.
He finishes the season having played 3261 Premier League minutes, the most in the squad. The good news is that help is on the way – Andrey Santos and Dario Essugo will be joining the squad in the next few weeks, and next year Caicedo will have more chances to rest and more support on the pitch as well as off it.
Now we just need him to step up and perform one more time to get us over the line against Nottingham Forest today.
It would be a travesty to see Caicedo in the Europa League next season after the campaign he’s had. If the rest of his colleagues can step up and play as well as he has this season, we will be fine.
Sadly, on too many occasions this season they’ve let him down – that’s why we’re in this sticky situation in the first place.
