Crack opponent scouting erupted once more during an Orlando City SC match. This time, it raised the curtain for the Hugo Cuypers show.

The Hugo Cuypers show opened and closed during the Orlando City SC match against the Chicago Fire FC. Most of the audience at Inter&Co Stadium didn’t post favorable reviews. The result was a 3-1 loss.

Scouts and media gave Cuypers great reviews last season. Although the Fire ended 2024 at the bottom of the MLS Eastern Conference, he tried his best with 10 goals. But he finished the Orlando City match with a brace scored in the 31st and 32nd minutes.

The Chicago striker now has double-digit goals in 2025. He’s the first Fire player to achieve that since 2019, and he’s the first MLS player to score in consecutive minutes since 2021. That’s when Columbus Crew’s Miguel Berry did it.

This is the Lions’ first home loss to the Fire since 2019.

Diego Torres managed the club for this match. Head Coach Oscar Pareja had to sit out with the red card he received during the Atlanta United game.

After the match, Torres and the players said they followed their training. That was attributed to the goal by Alex Freeman off a set piece in the 39th minute. Martin Ojeda contributed his sixth assist for Orlando across all competitions.

The Fire romp lasted the entire first half, starting with a fifth-minute score by midfielder Philip Zinckernagel, assisted by Mauricio Pineda. Zinckernagel returned with first assists on their next two scores, with Jonathan Dean awarded a second on the first by Cuypers.

No one scored in the second half. Scouting reports by opponents always emphasize containing Orlando forward Ramiro Enrique. The Lions came out firing in the second half, but the First did contain Enrique as instructed.

As Orlando City SC prepares for its remaining MLS matches, it should make a note. Opponents’ scouting reports probably include a section on Ramirio Enrique. And it’s highly detailed.
