Chris Sutton slams Vaclav Cerny for angering Celtic fans

Judging by the reaction of the Rangers players and fans at Parkhead, you would have thought that they had gone 13 points clear in the Premiership title race after winning 3-2 against Celtic. Of course, the reality is very different. But then, with nothing really left to play for this season in terms of silverware, it is not hard to understand why the result meant so much to Barry Ferguson's team.
It is rare for the Rangers to win at Celtic Park these days. Before this, their last victory at the ground had come back in October of 2020. They ended an eight-game winless run at the weekend.
Of course, the actions of some of their players after the Rangers scored the winner at Parkhead, have come under the microscope. Vaclav Cerny is certainly one of them.
Chris Sutton has now given his take on Cerny's actions on the day, which appeared to anger Celtic fans in the stands. As reported by the Daily Record, the Englishman said:
"Vaclav Cerny squirting Celtic fans with his water bottle, that was just silly."Look, it’s only water but Rangers and Celtic players are warned going into these games not to incite the crowd."There was just no need for it. It just invited all kinds of trouble, even if that is no real excuse for bad behaviour in the stands."
Of course, the actions of Cerny on the day were not fitting for a professional footballer. He was not the only one from the Rangers camp to display that at the weekend though. Dujon Sterling's post on Instagram after the game falls under the same category.
One can only hope that the Celtic players are keeping an eye on what transpired yesterday. Hopefully, it will work as a wake-up call for a team that has struggled to perform against the Rangers in recent times.
Earlier this year, they had lost 3-0 at Ibrox. Many had written that off as a bad day at the office but that excuse won't work this time around as well. Something needs to change and as soon as possible.
