Alessandro Draghi, the vice-President of the Florence city council has written to the mayor of the city to request that the Serie A fixture between Fiorentina and Juventus scheduled for Sunday be postponed due to adverse weather conditions in the region.
Fiorentina are due to host Juventus at the Stadio Artemio Franchi at 17.00 GMT on Sunday evening, in a massive fixture in the Serie A Champions League race.
However, the city of Florence is currently on red alert after torrential rain in the local area over the last week, which means there is a chance of the Fiorentina-Juventus game being called off.

“Due to the weather emergency, Mayor Funaro should consider requesting a postponement for the Fiorentina-Juventus match,” Draghi wrote, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
He continued: “I invite the mayor, along with the relevant bodies, to evaluate the request for the postponement of the match scheduled for Sunday.”
The game between the Viola and Bianconeri is crucial for both sides in their hunt for European football in 2025-26.
Juventus are currently fourth in the Serie A standings, but have just one point separating themselves and Lazio in fifth, with Bologna in sixth and only two points shy of the Old Lady.
Fiorentina are currently eighth in the standings on 45 points, seven shy of the Champions League positions.
The two teams ended level at 2-2 when they last met in Serie A in December.
