La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Saturday been dealt a heavy blow on the transfer front.

This comes amid confirmation that Real Sociedad star and known Blancos target Martín Zubimendi has agreed to take his talents to England.

The name of midfielder Zubimendi has of course proven an increasingly prominent one in the headlines in Spain’s capital over recent weeks.

This comes amid widespread claims that the 26-year-old is considered the ideal summer addition on the part of incoming Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso.

Amid an ongoing search for a long-term replacement for Toni Kroos, Zubimendi’s profile is highly appreciated at the Santiago Bernabéu.

It will in turn mark a serious blow for Alonso and co. to learn that the midfield standout has come to the decision to make the move to the Premier League, with Arsenal.

As per a report from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano:

‘Arsenal agree deal to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, here we go!

‘Zubimendi has now verbally agreed to sign a long term deal… so formal steps must follow soon with Arsenal to trigger €60m clause.’
