Manchester City are actively working on two deals to be completed in the coming days and weeks, it has been confirmed by David Ornstein.

The Premier League champions have their intentions set on what appears to be the construction of a new generation under Pep Guardiola, allowing the Catalan coach to prepare the club for life after his stewardship and leave the squad in the best place possible.

The 53-year-old extended his expiring agreement with Manchester City in November by a further two seasons, taking him through until the conclusion of the 2026/2027 campaign and ensuring that City have enough time to rebuild their playing roster.

That work has started at the first opportunity possible, and a number of names from across Europe have now been linked with big-money moves into the Etihad Stadium with the hope of turning around their fortunes immediately during the second-half of the campaign.

While there has been a lot of chatter concerning some of the more high-profile and higher-cost figures in Europe’s top-five leagues, City have now seemingly identified two clear market opportunities to enter into concrete discussions over.

That is according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who confirms that Manchester City are currently working on deals to sign both Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush and Lens’ Abdukodir Khusanov during the ongoing January transfer window.

While the report points out that there are currently no agreements in place for either of the two players, discussions involving Manchester City are said to be ‘advancing’ in the hope of bringing both talents into Pep Guardiola’s squad.

Media reports from within Germany and in England have already speculated that while Manchester City are cautiously optimistic over their chances of signing Marmoush this month, a deal is not impossible providing they sanction an investment in excess of £50 million.

Additional words around a deal have recently indicated that Omar Marmoush is keen on a move to the Etihad Stadium during the January market, and that will certainly give City hope that they can make it happen during talks with Eintracht Frankfurt.

As for Abdukodir Khusanov, Etihad bosses know that they face potential competition from Newcastle and Tottenham, while Real Madrid are known to be admirers, but they may ultimately to offer what is financially necessary in order to not miss out on the player.
