Paulo Dybala previewed the Europa League game versus Athletic Club and dished on his future speaking with Marca ahead of the first leg versus the Basque side (via Il Messaggero).
“They have proven to be a strong side in our previous meeting. Playing at Stadio Olimpico always motivates us. I’m very curious to visit San Mames. Everybody talks highly of it because the fans are really loud. They are a quick and dangerous side, but we will be prepared.”
Dybala addressed his automatic contract extension.
“I don’t think it helped me because I knew it would happen. There are always many rumours about me, but I’m used to them at this point. I’m the only one who knows the truth, which reassures me. I’m not thinking about my future at the moment.” “Roma have won just three Serie A titles because Italian football is very difficult and balanced. Taking home the Scudetto is challenging but not impossible. I’d like to leave a good memory behind, possibly a trophy, once I’m no longer here. However, we’re focused on the Athletic games and trying to qualify for the next Champions League now.”
Dybala was quizzed about potentially moving to La Liga.
“I love it and watch it often. It’s a nice and competitive league, and I would have liked to play there, but I’ve spent many years in Italy at this point; then, you never know what could happen in the future.”
Dybala waxed lyrical about Claudio Ranieri.
“A lot of credit for our turnaround goes to him. There was a ton of uncertainty before he was hired. He brought serenity by doing the simple things. He knows the city well, and his extraordinary motivation makes the difference.”
