The ongoing La Liga meeting between Espanyol and Barcelona this evening was brought to a temporarly halt.

This came owing to alarming developments outside RCDE Stadium. Specifically, a large group of fans, understood to be chiefly of an Espanyol persuasion, were run down by a rogue motorist.

A number of people were left injured by the incident, though thankfully no fatalities have been reported as of yet.

After being made aware of the situation amid the action on the pitch in Catalunya, referee Cesar Soto Grado felt it necessary to bring the clash to a stop.

From here, the official explained the situation to the two captains, who, in turn, passed the news on to their teammates.

Upon confirmation arriving that no one had been killed in the incident, Soto Grado gave the green light for play to resume at RCDE Stadium.

As things stand approaching the half-hour mark, the sides remain deadlocked at 0-0.
