The Derby d’Italia between Inter and Juventus is certainly one of Italian football’s most important fixtures.

But it does not exactly have a reputation for entertainment value.

The Milan derby between the Nerazzurri and AC Milan is certainly a fixture that has produced some high-scoring, dramatic matches over the years, including recently.

But in the Derby d’Italia, there have often been cagey matches. 1-0 scorelines are not uncommon.

However, yesterday evening Inter and Juventus put on a spectacle that can rival anything that the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri have done in living memory.

Both the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri held the lead at various points over the course of the Serie A showdown.

But in the end, it was a 4-4 draw for the two giants of Italian football.

Vieri: “Inter Dominated Juventus, But You Have To Kill These Games Off”

When the dust settled on what had been nothing short of an instant classic, former Inter and Italy striker Vieri gave his verdict on the match.

“It was a spectacular match,” the former striker said.

Vieri called the 4-4 draw “the best of the year in Italian football.”

“Inter will obviously be disappointed,” he continued. “Because in the second half they created a lot of chances and dominated the match.”

“But in these matches, you have to kill them off,” Vieri said.

“If you don’t you risk allowing counterattacks. Then you concede a goal and suddenly see everything change.”

“It’s a shame for Inter,” the former striker said. “They really dominated the second half.”

“But Juventus showed that they’re right there. They’ll fight for the title along with Inter, Milan, and Napoli.”
