A recent report from AS has revealed that Theo Hernandez, the AC Milan left-back, is now a top target for Real Madrid as the club looks to address the concerns over the left-back position.
While Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia have struggled to provide the level of assurance Madrid desires, Hernandez is seen as a potential solution to fill the gap in the defensive lineup.
Real Madrid have been actively searching for a reliable left-back to strengthen their squad, and Hernandez’s name has resurfaced on the list of potential candidates.
Despite the interest in players like Alvaro Carreras, who was initially considered a viable option, the 22-year-old Benfica defender has ruled out a move, with his agent confirming that he will remain in Portugal.
This has opened the door for the return of Hernandez, who left Madrid for AC Milan in 2019. With a favourable contract situation that expires in 2026, his price is expected to be lower than other top full-backs in the market.

His contract expiration plays into Madrid’s hands, as his market value has been reduced by a year due to a lack of renewal discussions.
This presents a potential bargain for Madrid, who are keen to capitalise on the situation and bring him back to the Spanish capital.
Hernandez has blossomed into one of the best left-backs in Europe and his time with Milan has been nothing short of outstanding.
However, Milan’s current situation, with the team sitting mid-table in Serie A, could make them more receptive to offers for their star defender.
Having paid €20 million for Hernandez, Milan have fully amortised the cost, making him an even more financially attractive option for potential suitors.
Now in his prime, the Frenchman represents a rare opportunity for Madrid to acquire a world-class full-back at a relatively low cost, given his contract situation.
With Milan’s decline this season, it is likely that the Serie A side could be open to selling Hernandez, making it an opportune moment for Madrid to strike a deal.
