Paris Saint-Germain have been strengthening their connections with Portugal through sporting advisor Luis Campos, bringing in players like Vitinha, João Neves, and Gonçalo Ramos.

But when the summer transfer window opens, Manchester United will look to beat PSG to a promising young talent both clubs have been tracking.

According to Foot Mercato, PSG, Manchester City, and United have all been monitoring 17-year-old Geovany Quenda from Sporting Lisbon.

United’s interest is particularly significant since manager Rúben Amorim previously coached Sporting. The Athletic recently reported that United are preparing to make a move for Quenda this summer, with Amorim eager to work with him again.

The teenager’s price tag is expected to be around €40 million (£33.4 million). But there’s been a new twist in the race for his signature.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Amorim has fully approved a move to bring the 17-year-old to Old Trafford this summer. He reportedly informed the United board weeks ago that he wants the deal done for the talented youngster.

“[Geovany] Quenda is on the list for sure, he’s been on the list for weeks and months. This remains the case. Nothing to say in terms of deal done now but he’s a player approved directly by Amorim,” Romano told Givemesport.

Recently, TEAMtalk reported that there are no agreements—verbal or otherwise—between Manchester United and the Portuguese player or between the club and his current team, Sporting Lisbon.

United has shown genuine interest but hasn’t made an offer or proposal yet. Amorim, who managed the player at Sporting, values him highly, but no deals are in place.

Sporting are asking for £17 million more than the £33 million Man Utd thinks Quenda is worth, setting their price at £50 million as journalist Ben Jacobs recently told GIVE ME SPORT.
