La Liga giants FC Barcelona reportedly hold a ‘dream’ of making prolific goalscorer Erling Haaland represent their club at some stage during his immediate career.

Manchester City’s remarkable number nine has risen to world fame over the last few years in particular due to his goalscoring exploits for the reigning Premier League champions and previously for German giants, Borussia Dortmund.

The Norwegian international scored an outstanding 86 goals in 89 games for the yellow and black side and currently has 103 goals in 110 games, with his impressive goalscoring feats resulting in breaking numerous Premier League records.

With his current Manchester City contract set to expire in the summer of 2027, recent reports have emerged stating that the Premier League champions are currently attempting to pen down their talisman to new terms.

The feeling is that both parties want to negotiate a new deal for the striker and are working to that end, however there is no doubt that many clubs will be eyeing his contractual situation in an attempt to potentially pry the goalscorer away from the Etihad Stadium.

New reports from Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg claim that Barcelona’s ‘dream’ is to bring Manchester City’s superstar forward, Erling Haaland to the Camp Nou in the coming years, to lead a new era at the La Liga club.

It comes as no shock that an organisation the size of Barcelona would hold desires to bring the goalscoring pedigree of the Norwegian to their club, however the report also makes clear that the 24-year-old is ‘not pursuing a move’.

Haaland has long been linked with moves away, with Real Madrid a common feature in media reports. A 2025 summer move to Barcelona is currently deemed unrealistic by Plettenberg, with a transfer in the subsequent two or three years considered more feasible.

Barca president, Joan Laporta is a long-term admirer of the forward with his interest stemming back to the 24-year-old’s time at Borussia Dortmund. Despite that interest, Erling Haaland ultimately picked a move to Pep Guardiola’s team, which has certainly paid its dividends.

With that being said, there should not be any cause for concern here.

Erling Haaland seems to be happy at Manchester City and his stature within the squad and the Premier League itself is growing. Widely recognised as the best forward in England, and the world, his manager has praised his impact in recent times.

With such praise, Manchester City transfer officials will be more than reluctant to lose their starman in attack to a direct rival in European competition, and as such will do everything in their power to keep their centre-forward.
