Pep Guardiola is saying goodbye to three key members of his Manchester City coaching staff, meaning he now needs to rebuild his backroom team.
Juanma Lillo, Inigo Dominguez, and Carlos Vicens are all leaving the club and won’t be joining Guardiola for the Club World Cup in the United States. He’s yet to name who’ll step in to take their places on the sidelines.
Vicens, who’s been at City for seven years, is off to take on his first job as a manager at Portuguese club Braga, where he’ll replace former Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal.
Lillo, a long-time mentor of Guardiola from his playing days in Mexico, first joined City in 2020. He had a short spell away before returning in 2023, bringing Dominguez with him. Both have now decided to head back to Spain.
That leaves Guardiola with just fitness coach Lorenzo Buenaventura and goalkeeping coach Xabi Mancisidor by his side on matchdays.
City say they’ll confirm the new coaching setup soon, and the plan is to get the new faces in as quickly as possible.
