Pep Guardiola has called for improvement from his team as we look to finish the season with a flourish and secure Champions League football.
Guardiola’s City looked to be heading for a point at Nottingham Forest before Callum Hudson-Odoi struck late on to claim three points for the hosts.
The boss is well aware of the importance of the final 10 matches of the campaign with UCL qualification front of mind for the Blues.
To guarantee European football for a 15th successive season, Guardiola expects an uplift in performance.
“We have to win games and if we don’t win enough games in a row to be secure, it will be a battle. We have 10 games left and we have to win a lot of games to qualify. It’s as simple as that.
“To find a way, you have to play better. You have to find something. It will not come from the sky. You have to do it. In situations you have to find something.
“The situation is what it is, we have 10 games left starting next Saturday against Brighton, international break after and then we will see what happens.”
Commenting on the narrow East Midlands loss, Guardiola spoke of fine margins during the 90 minutes.
The six-time Premier League winner felt a cutting edge was what was missing from his champions.
“It was a really tight game at the end, one action with the transition we couldn’t do it.
“We missed a pass and in the transition they scored a goal.
“It was a little bit slow in our process, we struggled to create chances, but always I give credit to the opponent because they defended really well.
“But we controlled the main threat with the long ball to Chris Wood and with the second balls we were really good and after that the transitions were really good – especially in the first half.
“Everyone was so connected but our line was a little bit slow and when we arrive in the final third we were not able to finish our actions.
“To break the lines you have to move the ball a little bit to the left and then quick to the right and everything was not as quick as we should do.”
