FC Barcelona have been monitoring the possibility of bringing in some help during the ongoing winter transfer window. Due to their financial restrictions, however, things are a bit complicated for the club. Still, Barcelona remains attentive to any good market opportunities.

One potentially interesting opportunity for them, however, is Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford. Despite being a talented player, the Englishman has lost a lot of his prominence at the club and has even been openly criticized by his coach, Ruben Amorim, in a recent press conference.

However, the woes for the Barcelona target do not stop there. Beyond just the criticism of his own coach, he has now been called out by a former legend of Manchester United as well. As highlighted by SPORT, former English midfielder Paul Scholes has now also joined in on criticizing the winger:

“I think Marcus has disappointed a lot of people with his attitude, and that’s what Ruben Amorim is trying to highlight when he says Rashford won’t play anymore. Rashford isn’t outright refusing to play, but the way he trains and behaves says it all.”

He went on to suggest that he should be expelled from the team, and that the player linked to Barcelona is not a good role model for the younger players either:

“In a way, his attitude shows he doesn’t want to be involved with his teammates. He should be expelled from the team immediately. He’s supposed to be a role model for the younger players, but he’s the opposite. The sooner he leaves the team, the better.”

Scholes even went on to suggest that there young players in the team with a better drive and hunger than him, and that Rashford is not doing justice to being a professional footballer:

“He isn’t training properly, nor is he living the life of a professional footballer as he should. He must be banished because he can’t stay at United. They need to find a solution because he can’t play here anymore, and the coach is absolutely right. He should be a role model, but he’s not. Meanwhile, there are other young players coming through who are committed.”

With such big names linked to Manchester United now turning against Rashford’s stay at the club, an exit could become quite likely. Barcelona continue to remain attentive, even though the club may need to make some sales before they can have enough space to accommodate a player like the 27-year-old English forward.
