Bo Henriksen has firmly dismissed speculation about his future at Mainz, confirming that he intends to remain head coach of the Bundesliga side next season.
The Dane has recently been linked with a number of clubs, including Wolfsburg and RB Leipzig. Most notably, he has been touted as a candidate for the coaching job at newly-promoted Premier League side Leeds United.
However, speaking at a press conference ahead of Mainz’s final Bundesliga fixture of the season against Bayer Leverkusen, Henriksen made his commitment to the club crystal clear.
"I’m very, very happy here," Henriksen said.
"It’s an incredible club, and I’m looking forward to next season. It’s a fantastic place, and we always strive to keep improving. That’s the most important thing for me."
Since taking charge in February 2024, Henriksen has overseen a remarkable turnaround, guiding Mainz from the brink of relegation to the cusp of European qualification.
Currently occupying the Europa Conference League spot, Mainz head into the final matchday with a realistic chance of securing continental football.
“The next step for me is that we want to play in Europe,” Henriksen stated.
