During the winter transfer window, Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho was a name floating in the transfer rumor mill. However, the young attacker didn’t move, and one manager was left disappointed.
The Daily Mail reported that Garnacho was no longer considered “untouchable” at Old Trafford, with top European clubs like Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan, Real Madrid, and Barcelona closely monitoring his situation.
A transfer wasn’t imminent, but United was reportedly open to offers of around £70 million. However, that price could be a tough ask for clubs like Atlético Madrid and Juventus.
Journalist Steve Kay revealed that Tottenham had seriously inquired about Garnacho, with CaughtOffside highlighting continued interest from Atlético, PSG, and Juventus. If the right offer came in, United might have considered selling.

In the final days of the winter transfer window, Sky Sports reported ahead of the deadline that Napoli was ready to resume talks with Manchester United regarding Garnacho.
The two clubs had agreed to reconnect to try and reach a compromise. Napoli aimed to secure an agreement in principle with the winger and his representatives, hoping to negotiate down United’s demands. Nonetheless, no move occurred.
Sky Sports Italia reports that Napoli manager Antonio Conte is frustrated after missing out on signing Garnacho and Karim Adeyemi in January, especially following the sale of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to PSG.
As a result, it will be interesting to see how the second half of the 2024-25 season treats Napoli, as they’re currently the Serie A leaders with a three-point lead over Inter Milan.
