Real will of course play their part in the first edition of the newly-formatted Club World Cup in the summer of 2025.

The competition will see leading clubs from across the globe lock horns in a group/knockout format, before the inaugural champion is ultimately determined by way of a finale showdown.

The aforementioned Real Madrid, for their part, will no doubt head into the CWC as one of the favourites to go all the way, boasting an outstanding historical record when it comes to knockout formats.

And, beyond the glory of being named world football’s best club side, the reigning Spanish champions also have a major monetary incentive.

As revealed by Diario AS, should they manage to beat out the competition to clinch the title in the USA next year, Carlo Ancelotti’s troops will be the recipients of €100 million in total prizes – more than any other club in the tournament are eligible to earn.
