With the arrival of Claudio Ranieri the future of Mats Hummels may have changed for good.
With Ivan Juric at the helm, the German defender was pushing to leave Roma in January due to his non-existent playing time.
According to Il Messaggero, the player did not meet the parameters of total distance covered in training, average power, acceleration, deceleration and maximum speed reached which is what ultimately prompted Juric to leave him out of Roma’s line-up for so long.
Now, Ranieri is planning to play differently, with a more traditional low block in which Hummels can prove pivotal as the central defender, with Ndicka and Mancini on either side.
Now that the cards on the table have changed, Hummels could choose to stay at Roma until the expiry of his contract (June 2025).
