Cleverley has emerged as a surprise contender for the vacancy at Carrow Road

Norwich City will head into the summer looking for a new head coach, after the decision was made to part ways with former boss Johannes Hoff Thorup.
Headhunted from Danish outfit Nordsjælland last summer, Thorup was a relative novice with just a season-and-a-half of experience under his belt, but the Canaries hierarchy and sporting director Ben Knapper saw him as the perfect fit for the new project on offer at Carrow Road.
After less than a season though, the 36-year-old was out on his ear, leaving City 14th in the Championship standings and a long way off play-off contention, ending the experiment of bringing the Dane to England abruptly early.
Many names will likely be linked with the vacancy in Norfolk, but a surprise individual has been touted as a potential contender - and it would mean Norwich raiding a Championship rival.
It was reported by The Sun's Alan Nixon this past weekend that Watford manager Tom Cleverley was being considered by the Norwich board, and that he is very much on their shortlist to succeed Thorup.
The ex-Man United midfielder himself has only been in management for just over a year, taking the role at a club that he played 181 times for across three different stints, and he had to endure serious pressure earlier in the season when reports emerged that controversial Hornets owner Gino Pozzo was set to replace him as head coach at Vicarage Road.
Cleverley came through that though, and as it stands, he has his Watford side above Norwich in the Championship table with one match of the league season remaining.
Despite this though, FLW's Canaries fan pundit Zeke Downes is not keen on the prospect of Cleverley arriving at Carrow Road, believing that there would not be much difference between him and current interim boss Jack Wilshere.
"I don't think we should be doing that at all," Zeke told FLW.
"If we're going to be getting a guy like Cleverley, then we might as well just stick with Wilshere, although obviously Cleverley's got slightly more experience because he's now actually managed a club, but he hasn't done an awful lot with Watford.
"They're pretty much in the same position as us - Watford would normally sack their manager after this but I don't know why they haven't, I guess because he's a bit of a legend there. I just don't see us appointing him as a good thing.
"I don't think Wilshere is a good idea either, but it looks like that will happen because of all the media and press around him - it seems like it's a done deal.
"So, it'll be interesting to see how the next game is with Wilshere and how the team responds, but I don't think Cleverley is one that I would want."
Cleverley is in the infancy of his coaching career, but amid lots of pressure at Watford and not so big of a much as previous bosses, he has done a solid job to achieve a mid-table finish at Vicarage Road.
He has a bright future in the game, but you have to wonder if he would be the right option, given that there are some potentially exciting out of work bosses that could be better fits.
