An insider has delivered some huge Chelsea transfer news today regarding a 6ft 5in tall potential target for the summer window.

This news comes after Chelsea got a vital three points on Friday night against Manchester United in what was a crucial win for the race for Champions League football next season.

One Chelsea legend Gary Cahill was at the match and he has hailed one key player in the game as being one of the best in Europe after his influence on the match.

Cahill wasn’t the only one praising this player as well, with team mate Pedro Neto joining in and picking up on the character of the Chelsea hero from Friday night.

Chelsea will now move on to their final league game of the season next weekend away at Nottingham Forest, and it’s another game they have to win the secure Champions League qualification.

Chelsea looking for new centre backs

It’s become very well know now, but it’s clear that Chelsea are trying to sign a new centre back or two in the summer transfer window opening up.

In fact, former scout who remains well connected in the game, Mick Brown, said this today over on Football Insider:

“There’s no doubt the manager [Enzo Maresca] wants to improve his defensive options.”

Chelsea looking at Branthwaite

Brown went on to say:

“I’m told they’ve been looking at Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton.

“He would be a solid option for them, but I don’t think they’re completely convinced.

“If you’re looking at Branthwaite, how much better is he than what they’ve already got at Chelsea?

“Then, you have to consider that it would take big money to bring him in because Everton aren’t going to let him go easily.

“So if they’re spending that type of money, they want a player who would be a really significant upgrade on the likes of Colwill, and they’re not convinced he is.

“It’s something they’ll consider and then they’ll be the ones to make that decision.

“But as things stand I think they’re more likely to look elsewhere.”
