A leading member of the sidelined contingent at La Liga giants Real Madrid has set his sights on this summer’s Club World Cup as his planned comeback date.

That’s according to Blancos insider Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, who points towards Dani Carvajal as the player in question.

Full-back Carvajal has for his part of course been out of action for the last three months.

This comes after the Spanish international was stretchered out of a 2-0 La Liga victory over Villarreal, with what was later confirmed to be a torn ACL.

Now 32, some had questioned whether the severity of Carvajal’s injury could prove to be career-threatening.

Safe to say, however, that the stopper has no intention of hanging up his boots any time soon…

In fact, Carvajal has pencilled in an altogether optimistic date for his return to competitive action in the colours of Real Madrid.

As per a report from the aforementioned Mario Cortegana:

‘Carvajal is aiming to be back for the Club World Cup, which starts in June.’
