Inter Milan Captain Defiant After 5-0 Champions League Final Loss Vs PSG: ‘Great Season Even Without Any Trophies’

Lautaro Martinez feels that it’s been a “great season” for Inter Milan even though they did not win any trophies after today’s loss to PSG.
The Nerazzurri captain spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, after this evening’s 5-0 humbling.
Inter Milan came into this evening’s Champions League final knowing that it was a match that would define their season.
The Nerazzurri had lost out on the Supercoppa Italiana and the Coppa Italia already. And worst of all, they lost out on the Serie A title to Napoli on the final day of the season.
However, all of that disappointment would have been swiftly erased had Inter beaten Paris Saint-Germain this evening.
That was not what happened, though. Far from it, Inter suffered an absolutely crushing defeat against the Ligue 1 giants. They lost by a shock scoreline of 5-0.

Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez reflected on this evening’s defeat after the match.
“We were unable to do any of what we’d prepared,” he said.
“Congratulations to PSG. They played an extraordinary final.”
“They didn’t make any mistakes and they deserved it,” added the Inter captain.
However, Martinez then said that “I’m proud of the team.”
“Of the coach. The club.”
“Now we have to pick ourselves back up,” continued Martinez. “As is only right.”
“We’ve had a great season. Despite not winning a single trophy.”
“Wins are what matter,” added the Nerazzurri captain. “There’s bitterness and the desire to start again.”
“We gave everything on the pitch. Today, we suffered a loss that hurts. But I’m proud.”
