Antonello has played an important role at Inter for the better part of a decade now.

The executive became the Nerazzurri’s Corporate CEO in 2017.

While Antonello has not worked on the sporting side at Inter, he has still had an immense influence.

Antonello has been the architect of the Nerazzurri’s commercial strategy. The 59-year-old has worked to pursue an ambitious program of partnerships and commercial deals.

It has been a turbulent few years for Inter on that front.

That has been very visible in the fact that the club have gone into each of the last four seasons with a new main shirt sponsor.

But Antonello has been the person who has guided Inter through this tough period.

And under the Corporate CEO’s guidance, commercial revenues have steadily improved for the Nerazzurri.

However, Antonello’s adventure with Inter now looks to be coming to an end.

Reportedly, Nerazzurri owners Oaktree Capital have decided to part ways with the Corporate CEO.

This would be part of a broader shakeup of things behind the scenes from the Inter owners.

Oaktree have not been altogether satisfied with the running over the club since taking over in May. The stadium issue and the scandal around the Nerazzurri’s ultras have been key points of contention.

And in the meantime, Roma have been searching for a new CEO.

The Giallorossi are aiming to replace Lina Soukou, who stepped down last month.

And according to the Corriere, it will be Antonello who fills Soukou’s shoes. Sassuolo’s Giovanni Carnevali and Bologna’s Carlo Fenucci were other candidates, but it will instead be the current Inter Corporate CEO.

The Corriere reports that after Wednesday’s Champions League match against Young Boys, Antonello flew to Rome.

This was to meet with the Giallorossi board. It now looks to be only a matter of time before Roma announce Antonello’s arrival.
