Inter Milan will not trigger a clause to extend the contract of defender Stefan de Vrij.

At the moment, former Lazio and Feyenoord defender de Vrij is under contract with Inter until the end of June.

The Dutchman is on the same deal that he signed in the summer of 2023. That was a two-year contract.

However, the Nerazzurri do have an option to extend de Vrij’s contract by a further season as part of that deal.

Inter do intend to keep de Vrij past the end of next season.

However, reports Tuttosport, the Nerazzurri will not trigger the clause in the Netherlands international’s deal to extend it until the end of June 2027.

Rather, Inter want to reward de Vrij’s good form this season with an entirely new contract.

Therefore, the club will sit down with de Vrij’s representatives in the coming weeks to begin negotiating a new deal.

Tuttosport report that Inter’s plan would be to offer the 32-year-old a deal until the end of June 2026, but with the option of an additional season.
