Inter Milan wingback Tajon Buchanan has returned to the pitch for the first time since suffering a serious injury after featuring in Canada’s 1-0 win over Suriname on Saturday evening.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, and via FCInterNews.it, the defender was introduced in the 78th minute by coach Jesse Marsch as Canada chased a goal, with the game goalless at that time.

It was Buchanan’s first game since suffering a tibia injury almost four and a half months ago during a training session in Canada’s Copa America 2024 campaign.

Whilst Buchanan had resumed full training with Inter, he is yet to feature at all this season at club level and the Roman newspaper revealed why.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is believed to have wanted to give the former Club Brugges man as much time as possible to avoid a recurrence of the injury, whilst many of the Nerazzurri’s recent fixtures have been too tight to risk introducing him.

Buchanan joined Inter in January and has scored one goal in 10 appearances for the Serie A champions.
