Ipswich will aim to put space between themselves and the relegation places when Brighton arrive at Portman Road this evening.
Kieran McKenna’s team have breathed new life into their survival battle with four points from their last two games. After moving level on points with Wolves, Ipswich climbed out of the relegation zone on goal difference on Wednesday after the former’s heavy defeat at Newcastle.
Ipswich also secured comfortable progress in the FA Cup at the weekend. Kalvin Phillips, Jack Clarke and Jack Taylor were on target as The Tractor Boys made light work of Bristol Rovers in the third round.
Next up for Ipswich is a home clash with Brighton. It’s the first top-flight league meeting between the teams at Portman Road for 42 years.
Brighton have struggled of late in the league and are eight without a win. The club’s last four Premier League games have all ended in draws. Fabian Hurzeler’s side return to East Anglia for the second time in six days after a 4-0 win at Norwich City in the FA Cup last weekend.
Ipswich are missing key attacking options this evening with Omari Hutchinson and Sammie Szmodics ruled out. The former sat out the weekend win over Bristol Rovers with a groin issue, while Szmodics has a foot problem.
Elsewhere, Conor Chaplin and Axel Tuanzebe remain out. Summer signing Chiedozie Ogbene is out for the season with an Achilles injury.
