Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique has hit out at the French media for criticising his side on the eve of their Champions League semi-final with Arsenal.

PSG have suffered a dip in form ahead of the first leg at Emirates Stadium, winning one of their last four games in all competitions.

Prior to that, Enrique’s side had won seven on the spin to secure the Ligue 1 title and the Spaniard has hit back at the French media.

“No one is talking about the goals or the games we’ve won, let’s talk about our defeats, that’s fine,” said Enrique.

“You can say everything you want, you can send everything my way. Our mindset is wonderful. The most unhappy or sad member of the squad is me so you can just imagine what the others are doing.

“Let me just specify. Maybe I am getting things wrong but when I’m talking about the negative climate, I’m not talking about the fans or the staff within the club.

“But yeah, the questions coming from the media and even the questions the journalists ask, I think it is quite negative but maybe that’s just me.”

Enrique also bristled during his press conference on Monday afternoon when asked about Arsenal’s threat from set-pieces.

The Gunners have proved dangerous from them, scoring 14 goals in the Premier League from this season - which is a tally only bettered by Crystal Palace.

PSG, in contrast, have proved vulnerable from them and 19 of the 50 goals they have conceded this season have come via set-pieces.

But Enrique said: “We are obviously working on all of the aspects of the game, because how do you think I got my licence to be a coach without working on everything?”

Everybody speaks about the Premier League as being the best league in the world. I don’t know if I agree or not.

Enrique insisted PSG are full of confidence ahead of their game with Arsenal, especially as they knocked out Liverpool on their way to this semi-final.

“Maybe that is a question for Mr Arteta,” said Enrique, when asked if the Premier League is the best league in the world.

“But in terms of confidence, it is very positive for us. We beat Liverpool and they won the Premier League this year.

“But that doesn’t mean anything because very single match is different. Everybody speaks about the Premier League as being the best league in the world. I don’t know if I agree or not. But we are full confidence and looking forward to playing in in the semi-final.”
