Yet another stalemate for the Bianconeri, but this 1-1 draw in Bergamo was the result of a very intense, entertaining match, with chances at both ends, including some positive signs from Juventus.

The opening exchanges

The match started with Atalanta aggressive and keen to dictate the tempo of the game. Charles De Ketelaere came close with a dangerous header from Sead Kolasinac's cross in the 12th minute, but his effort went just wide. After a difficult first 15 minutes, Juventus grew into the game. In the 21st minute, Teun Koopmeiners made a good run into the box before being found by Manuel Locatelli, but his shot finished just wide of the target. Shortly afterwards, Weston McKennie posed a threat in the 34th minute: the American received a good pass from Kenan Yildiz and shot from the edge of the box, but Marco Carnesecchi was ready to parry his strike away from goal.

Atalanta threaten through Lookman

The home team responded blow by blow and started to cause problems through Ademola Lookman, a real thorn in the side of the Bianconeri defence. In the 23rd minute, the striker came close to scoring with a close-range shot, only to be denied by Michele Di Gregorio, although play was subsequently brought back for offside. In the 25th minute, Lookman again came close, but again found an alert Di Gregorio in his way.

A hectic end to the first half

The final minutes of the first half were a continuous onslaught at both ends. In the 39th minute, Yildiz's dangerous cross-shot flashed across the whole penalty area, while in the 40th minute Atalanta came forward through Mario Pasalic, whose effort was blocked by Khephren Thuram. In the 44th minute, Juventus came close to taking the lead with a rebound: first Yildiz's shot was blocked by the defence, then Nico Gonzalez's follow-up effort went just wide.

Juve aggressive in the second half

The second half started with Juventus immediately on the front foot. In the 47th minute, Yildiz found space on the edge of the box and struck a left-footed shot which was deflected wide. In the 49th minute, there was chaos in the Atalanta box following a set-piece: Pierre Kalulu headed powerfully towards goal, only to be denied by a combination of Carnesecchi and the upright.

Kalulu's goal and Atalanta's fightback

In the 54th minute, the Bianconeri were rewarded for their continued pressure: McKennie, who put in a good performance, found Kalulu with a precise pass. The French defender, through on goal, kept his cool in front of Carnesecchi and slotted home a right-footed shot to put Juventus ahead. Atalanta tried to respond immediately: in the 56th minute, Ederson struck an effort from distance having been teed up by Lazar Samardzic, but Di Gregorio was alert to the danger and repelled the effort. In the 60th minute, Lookman threatened with a shot from inside the area after a quick exchange with Mateo Retegui, but Federico Gatti was on hand to make a crucial block.

Retegui equalises

Atalanta's pressure increased and, in the 78th minute, they found an equaliser. Raoul Bellanova broke through down the right and delivered a cross into the penalty area; Retegui managed to get in front of Nicolo Savona with a lightning fast burst and diverted the cross goalwards, beating Di Gregorio. Atalanta, motivated by the goal, continued to push. In the 84th minute, Nicolo Zaniolo cut in from the left and let loose from the edge of the box and his powerful shot forced Di Gregorio into a good save.

Yildiz comes close to a winner

Juventus did not give up and in the 91st minute came close to finding a winner. McKennie, still at the centre of proceedings, played a perfect pass to find Yildiz. The Turk controlled with precision and struck a powerful right-footed shot, but it went just wide of the post.

And so it ended, and we return from Bergamo with a point.
