Juventus coach Thiago Motta admits that Inter Milan “could’ve scored a fifth goal” in this evening’s 4-4 Serie A thriller.

The Bianconeri coach spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the match, via FCInterNews. He also argued that the Nerazzurri and Napoli are still favourites for the Serie A title.

Neither team was lacking for goals in this evening’s Derby d’Italia clash. That’s for certain.

Inter may well have thought that they had scored enough to take the three points after Denzel Dumfries scored their fourth in the second half.

Moreover, Inter did not stop there. They kept pushing for more and creating chances.

But in the end it was Juventus who hit back.

The Bianconeri scored twice, both coming from substitute Kenan Yildiz, to equalize. This was enough to see the two teams share the points in a match that was nothing short of an instant classic.

Naturally, Inter will regret some of the defensive lapses that allowed Juventus to keep scoring.

But just as much, the Nerazzurri will be kicking themselves for a couple of the opportunities that they passed up at the other end of the pitch.

After the match, Juventus coach Motta said that “In the second half they could have added to their lead but they didn’t.”

“Then, we got back into the match, and could’ve even won.”

“We wanted to go out and get a different result,” Motta said. “The first half was balanced, but the individual episodes went against us.”

And the Bianconeri coach remained coy when it comes to the Serie A title race.

“We put in a good performance against the team who are, along with Napoli, the favourites,” Motta said as far as Juventus’s title ambitions.

“Inter won the last Scudetto. Napoli won it a year and a half ago and have maintained a strong base.”

“In fact, it’s the same two teams leading at the moment. They can win it.”

Motta insisted that “We did well today but we have to keep our feet on the ground.”
