Juventus winter signing Renato Veiga addressed the media in the build-up to Sunday’s Derby d’Italia clash against Inter. In addition to offering an update on his adaptation to the new surroundings, Veiga outlined his ambitions for the heavily anticipated fixture in Turin.

Veiga joined Juventus from Chelsea on loan with an option to buy after failing to secure regular first-team football at Stamford Bridge. The versatile defender has already registered two Serie A appearances for Thiago Motta’s side, emerging victorious on both occasions.

“Everything is still new, I haven’t been here long, but the team has welcomed me very well,” the Juventus star told Sky Sport Italia via Calciomercato. “We have an excellent group, very solid, with the right atmosphere, and this is very important.

“Everyone knows Juventus for its history, for the great players who have played here, including Portuguese ones. I already knew many things before coming here, I followed the team thanks to the important players who are here.”

Meanwhile, Veiga will likely be part of the starting line-up when Juventus take on Inter tomorrow night. After a breathless 4-4 draw in the reverse fixture, expectations ahead of Sunday’s showdown are sky-high.

“The match against Inter is fundamental, we must win because we are Juventus. We always play to win,” Veiga maintained.

He then admitted he aims to help the club return to its former heights.
