Kylian Mbappe had a challenging start to life at Real Madrid. Early in the 2024-25 season, there was talk about whether this signing would work out for the Spanish side after waiting several years on the player.
Nonetheless, the Frenchman turned his situation around and now is a vital piece to Real Madrid’s attack. When the Spanish side need to relay on talent to pull out three points, he’s there and that was the case this past weekend.
Villarreal took a 1-0 lead over Los Blancos, but Mbappe recorded a brace that allowed Real Madrid to secure all three points.

Mbappe spoke with Le Parisien, and one of the questions that the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner responded to was about his slow start at Real Madrid. While he didn’t say PSG are solely to blame, he does mention the lack of playing time that he endured toward the final months in the French capital.
“A European Championship that you don’t win, in which you don’t play well, an end to the season at PSG where you play much less,” Mbappe said (h/t Diario AS). “It’s a buildup of things—injuries, poor performances, things I haven’t experienced much in my career, and that force you to work hard again to become the player you can be.”
