Lautaro Martinez Substitution In Serie A Draw Vs Parma Intended To Preserve Captain’s Fitness For Bayern Munich Vs Inter Milan Champions League Clash

Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez came off against Parma to preserve his fitness for Tuesday’s clash with Bayern Munich.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez returned from injury against Parma yesterday. He was straight back in the starting eleven for the Serie A clash.
However, Martinez only saw out around an hour at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.
Moreover, the timing of Martinez’s substitution was certainly notable.
The 27-year-old came off just a few minutes after Parma had gotten a goal back. And a few minutes before their equalizer.

Martinez was visibly unhappy to be coming off the pitch yesterday at the Tardini.
This was the understandable result of the fact that Inter were facing a delicate moment in the match. The captain wanted to stay on the pitch and help the team.
But the substitution was inevitable no matter what.
Lautaro Martinez hardly had the fitness to see out the full ninety minutes.
And it was key to preserve the Argentine’s fitness.
Inter’s next match is a Champions League quarterfinal first leg clash with Bayern Munich.
