Lazio remain in the lead in the race to sign Jacopo Fazzini despite facing competition from Napoli who are reportedly tracking the player as well.
The Biancocelesti have identified the 21-year-old Empoli man as their ideal target to bolster the middle of the park, especially due to his young age which makes him eligible for the U22 list. Several sources in the Italian media have been shedding some light on the ongoing talks between the two clubs.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Napoli have inquired about the Massa native as they look to replace Michael Folorunsho who appears destined to join Fiorentina. However, Lazio remain in the lead, as they’re currently trying to find an agreement with Empoli over the formula and figure.
For his part, Alfredo Pedullà confirms what was reported by his colleague, adding that the Aquile will hold what could be a decisive meeting with Empoli by Friday, as they don’t want to be dragged into a bidding war. The Biancocelesti will be hoping to close the operation, believing they have made a fair proposal by offering the Tuscans €1 million for the loan, in addition to an obligation to buy worth €11 million.
Moreover, the Italian journalist reveals that Lazio continue to keep tabs on Chelsea youngster Cesare Casadei who could be the club’s Plan B in case they miss out on Fazzini.
