Lee Westwood and Alan Shearer are big mates.

However, the golfer and the former football star have one thing that divides them.

That is, the current battle to get a place in the Champions League.

Such a tight contest as Forest, Man City, Newcastle United, Chelsea and Villa fight for the three places on offer, to qualify along with Liverpool and Arsenal.

Lee Westwood has seen Shearer’s Newcastle United beat the Forest team he supports, three times this season. Setting NUFC off on our run to eventual silverware at Wembley, as well as two big wins in the Premier League.

No wonder Lee Westwood declares; “I’m good friends with Alan Shearer but I have gone quiet with him about Forest since Newcastle beat us home and away in the league this season.”

A massive weekend of football ahead and Lee Westwood has been asked by BBC Sport to predict all the Premier League and FA Cup matches.

Through gritted teeth, Lee Westwood predicts a big win for Newcastle United that will take them third in the table above Forest, whilst Westwood sees his team in the FA Cup final thanks to knocking Man City out this coming Sunday.

Here’s hoping he is proved correct about St James’ Park on Saturday and fair to say, I don’t think many Newcastle fans will be wanting Man City to win on Sunday.

Lee Westwood predicting what will happen when Newcastle play Ipswich on Saturday:

“I don’t see Newcastle dropping points, unfortunately for Forest.

“I’m good friends with Alan Shearer but I have gone quiet with him about Forest since Newcastle beat us home and away in the league this season.

“They beat us on their way to winning the Carabao Cup as well so I haven’t been able to wind him up too much, but I’ll be in touch if we finish above them.

“Prediction: Newcastle 4 Ipswich 1”

Lee Westwood on Nottingham Forest v Manchester City in their FA Cup semi-final on Sunday:

“It will be tough but I do think we can turn them over. I am not just saying that because I’m a Forest fan, it’s because we seem to have played well against the better teams this season, the ones that come on to us.

“I’ve seen the stats about possession and we have got the lowest average possession (39.3%) in the Premier League this season, and City have got the highest (61.6%) so they are going to have the ball and we will try to hit them on the break – we have already beaten them this season, so we know it can work.
