Brentford’s stellar top-flight campaign will come with its consequences, with several of Thomas Frank’s most trusted lieutenants likely to be pursued for summer transfers.
Particularly the likes of Yoanne Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo, the latter of whom has been deemed a concrete target for Manchester United in the build-up to the window opening next month.
The prolific pair boast a hugely impressive 47 league goal contributions this season. Mbeumo, meanwhile, is enjoying a career-best campaign after finding the back of the net 18 times while notching seven assists.
Luckily for the Old Trafford faithful, The Telegraph claimed that any potential move United make for the Bees talisman will be completely separate from their interest in Matheus Cunha, who’s been heavily linked with the club over the last month.
Brentford are expected to demand upwards of £60 million to sanction Mbeumo’s exit, six years after his £5.4m switch – a then-club record fee – from Troyes.
He has only continued to flourish under long-serving manager Frank, perhaps even more so since Ivan Toney departed the Gtech Stadium for Al-Ahli last year and Mbeumo stepped up to the mark to provide the goals in the striker’s absence.

While the West London outfit would love nothing more than to keep hold of their star man for the foreseeable future, both Frank and skipper Christian Nørgaard have conceded he’s likely to embark on a new venture in the coming months.
The Danish boss recently said of Mbeumo: “If the price is right – and that’s going to be expensive – is coming, then I’m sure the club will be open to it. I’ve said many times: we are a selling club. But at the same time, we have to reinforce that there are 10 clubs in the world that aren’t selling clubs.”
This week, Nørgaard also told Sky Sports: “I think Bryan [Mbeumo] is likely to go. I don’t know about Wissa yet. Everyone still hopes he might stay.”
